Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences (CUAS) is a full-time general undergraduate institution of higher education sponsored by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, a national language standardization demonstration school, a garden-style unit in Chongqing, a high-level new engineering construction university in Chongqing, and the first batch of national innovation and entrepreneurship universities. In 2021, CUAS was approved as a master's degree-granting unit.
CUAS is located in Yongchuan District, 63 kilometers away from the main city of Chongqing. It is well-located and easy of access, there have the Expressway, High Speed Railway access to Yongchuan, and the municipal railroad line from Chongqing central city to Yongchuan will soon be opened.
Strong faculty. There are more than 1,500 faculty members, including more than 180 full-time professor titles and more than 360 associate professor titles; 387 teachers with doctoral degrees, 10 part-time doctoral supervisors, and 164 full-time and part-time master's supervisors; more than 200 external experts (including 12 foreign experts).
Successful application transformation. There are 19 schools and 66 undergraduate majors covering 10 disciplines such as Literature, Science, Engineering, Management, Education, Agriculture, Economics, etc., realizing a successful transformation to multidisciplinary, application-oriented and comprehensive with 23,000 students. Three majors, which are Mechanical, Material and Chemical Engineering, and Agriculture, have been approved as master's degree authorization units.
Fruitful scientific research. CUAS strengthens scientific and technological research, promotes the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and serves economic and social development. At present, it has 3 national scientific research platforms, 27 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms and 1 postdoctoral research station. In recent years, CUAS has published important research results in Nature and Cell, and three disciplines which are Materials Science, Chemistry and Engineering, have entered the top 1% of ESI global ranking.
Strong innovation drive. In the past few years, in the first National Intelligent Manufacturing (Made in China 2025) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, as well as the Fourth and Fifth China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, CUAS have won excellent results, two gold medals have been awarded in the national finals of the China International "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Students.
Remarkable results in educating. The students cultivated by CUAS have solid foundation, excellent skills, strong practical ability and adaptability, which have been fully recognized and widely welcomed by the society and employers, and become the backbone of promoting national economic construction and social development. More than 30 experimental classes of various types, such as excellence class, compound class, entrepreneurship class, specialty class, further study class and study abroad class, have been opened, training more than 10,000 students. The men's basketball team of the university reached the top eight in the 24th China University Basketball Association (CUBA) in 2022, which was the best achievement of Chongqing universities in the tournament.
Extensive external cooperation. CUAS insists on basing itself on Chongqing, serving Chengdu-Chongqing, facing the whole country and integrating China and foreign countries, and actively promotes the opening up of running universities. It has signed cooperation agreements with more than 30 universities in the United States, Russia, Italy and other foreign countries, and is a subsidized unit of the State Scholarship Council for sending students abroad. It has trained more than 300 overseas students, and jointly trained more than 600 graduate students with more than 40 universities, including Chongqing University and University of Electronic Science and Technology. It has established school-local strategic alliances with Chongqing and Sichuan, and built a number of industrial colleges or experimental classes for university-enterprise cooperation with some famous enterprises.
After more than 40 years of unremitting pursuit and leapfrog development, the young and flourishing CUAS is accelerating the construction of high-quality bachelor's and master's degree in one applied education system, and writing a brand-new chapter in the construction of applied industrial universities.
